Are You Feeling Lucky…er?

I research Google. Before I started SEO, understanding Google was none of my concern, I always found what I was looking for or it didn’t exist.

My point: The two search buttons; “Google Search” and “I’m feeling Lucky”. What does “I’m feeling Lucky” do? Automatically takes you to the top ranked page, cutting out one step of a Google Search.

It wasn’t a sexual innuendo. Disappointed.

While I was feeling luckier than normal, I found this page.

http://nickstraffictricks.com/ How to drive traffic to your site.

I’m expecting the usual traffic info; post blog, good content and backlinks. No, he has a different style. Thanks Nick, add you to the list of credible sources. In my binder, wink.

I’m going to list the valuable and unique items I took from Nick…again thank you.

1) My SEO binder. Nick’s advice- be organized, an easy way a spiral/binder. Notes, Schedules, Websites, cool stuff you learned. I already had a binder Nick, but mine is different. Chalkboard paint, I win.

Do you really need to see what I have to do today? Not like it gets done.

2) Nick has a video: Screw SEO 9 ways to get Traffic Without SEO

Nick mentions blogs, comments, backlinks of course we know where the list is going…

He also mentions bumper stickers with your website’s name (least expensive, less time consuming). This idea brings me back to the obvious, marketing basics. Here’s a couple ideas to recieve more traffic to your site without the help of Google. Go ahead, get your hands dirty.

-Word of Mouth, I talk about Etsy and my media to whoever will listen. Hard to track on Google unless they use my name…Megan Tegtmeyer in their search. I’ve seen Megan, Chalkboard, Etsy.com. Whatever works! I’ll take it!

-Promo your site with friends, relatives and co-workers. I gave my manager a chalkboard stand (he writes his quote of the day). I gave my amigo a picture frame (soon to post in my shop).

I placed my website address on both. The terms and conditions: the masterpiece stays on their desk (high traffic area). Courtney (my amigo) told me everyone asks about the frame, and they’re going to write something dirty when she’s not looking.

-Craigslist post, huge traffic and and user friendly (great search option). Yesterday I posted a short “resume” because I’m looking for SEO work. My post can be seen at: http://dallas.craigslist.org/ndf/res/2496117674.html.

I received traffic, Google Analytics told me so. I have two interviews next week. One for clinicapps.com listed on my chalkboard paint covered binder.

Thanks again Nick. Please feel free to post your own WOM traffic ideas!
